About this site

Remote Origin is a blog — or journal, or whatever this turns into — by Carter Long. It's a space for breaking down tech concepts, exploring how they connect to the bigger picture, and occasionally just thinking out loud about life, work, and everything in between.

I'm a software engineer, hardware tinkerer, and full-time student. I grew up in Hungary as a missionary kid, and now I build software from Indiana that serves people across the globe. That background shapes a lot of how I see things — both the code I write and the world it runs in.

There's no strict schedule here. When I have something worth sharing, I'll share it. Some of it will be technical. Some of it won't. All of it will be honest.

Say hi

This isn't a broadcast. If something I write resonates — or if you just want to say hey — reply to any email. I read and respond to every one.
